Soil

The type of soil, the area characteristic and present in other similar formations of Montefeltro, is mainly calcareous clay and limestone arenaceous. These characteristics, combined with the climate and the type of viticulture implemented, contribute to the heritage of our wines.

Climate

The climate is mild, with hot summers and cool winters. Snowfalls are scarce in areas of lower altitude, while in higher areas they are common to every winter, and in some cases even abundant. Summer temperatures average between 20 ° C and 30 ° C, with peaks of 35 ° C; invernalualuando between 0 ° C and +14 ° C.

Grape variety

The main grape variety is red, specifically Sangiovese, followed by white grapes: Biancal, Ribolla and Moscato, all cultivated on these slopes since ancient times. In addition to these, other international grape varieties have been introduced more recently, such as Chardonnay, Cabernet and Merlot.

Exposure

The exposure is varied: we find the slopes facing South and South West such as the 5-way vineyards or those facing the Gesso and Montescudo, in the Montepulito area where there are also plants facing north-east.

Altitude

Also the altitude, thanks to the particular conformation of the territory, is rather varied. So we find the lower plants at about 50 meters above sea level. From this altitude we find vines at any altitude up to about 450 meters.

Wines

In light of all this, the wines that are born in our territory are the result of the synergy of all these factors, together with the dedication, passion and work of the people that in one way or another revolve around this reality.

San Marino Winery

Where we are

San Marino is a very small state, located within the Italian territory, on the border between the regions of Emilia-Romagna (province of Rimini) and Marche (province of Pesaro and Urbino). San Marino is one of the oldest republics in the world. Its capital of the same name stands on the slopes of Mount Titano and is famous for its medieval old town surrounded by walls and cobbled streets. On the three peaks of the mountain rise the three towers, fortresses dating back to the 11th century. The Republic of San Marino has an extension of 61.19 km² and a population of 33 328 inhabitants.
